Government subsidies

The government subsidy is where the government is paying farmers extra money to have them grow corn. I think this is a bad thing because the government is interfering with what the farmers normally should be growing just so we can have corn to make all this “fake” food.

Meth Epidemic

I believe that only certain drugs should be legalized. The reason is because a lot of people are getting in trouble for taking, having, and or possessing these drugs, but it’s not stopping the problem. In fact it’s probably making it worse because people who get in trouble for abusing drugs are just going to continue abusing them. If these drugs are legalized then there will be less people “rebelling” against their parents and the government because it won’t matter if they are using them or not. Also drug sellers make a lot of money selling drugs to people, so if they are legal then they will be out of business and I don’t think they should be making their money that way. I also think there will be a lot less deaths by drug deals because people wouldn’t be so worried about being caught by the police.

food Inc.

This movie was very intense and i didn't really like it at all. It showed all the things happening to our food before we ate it, and it was pretty disgusting. Even though we have the people who check the food to make sure it is safe to eat, they don't care at all as long as people are still going to buy the food, because we all need it. And as long as people are buying the food they are going to keep making it the same way. It's also horrible that we are having all those illegal immigrants coming in to work in those factories handling the food we it. Also all those machines just to kill the animals need so much oil and you wonder where all that oil is going when we could be using it for something else.

I think people really need to change this and to change this I think we should start eating organic food, or stop eating this factory food. We should grow our own foods, or at least know where our food is coming from, if it's a huge factory product or an actual local farm.

Industry Farming

In industrialized farming they have a unnaturally large quantities of animals in very close proximity. The main animals for these factory farming are cows, pigs, chickens, and turkeys, but it is also applied to sheep, goats, rabbits, and poultry. These metal walls are keeping these animals indoors with no sunlight or fresh air. They de-beak chickens and turkeys, and dock the tails of pigs and cows to have them adapt to factory farm conditions. The pens and cages are so small that they restrict the normal behavior and movement from the animals. They give the animals doses of antibiotics regularly to prevent diseases bred by unnatural and unsanitary conditions. Also the animals are given hormones and antibiotics to promote faster growth. The excessive weight from these animals can pollute the air and water.
What we can do to prevent this is start buying our food from smaller sustainable farms. There they won’t sacrifice the health of our land or the quality of our food just to make more money. When you buy locally more of the money goes directly to the farmers because less go to the transportation.

decision making model

Another decision making model that can be easy and effective to use is to ask yourself this question, If I do ____, will it allow me to more so be who I want to be, or not? This is an easy model, because you can answer it with a yes or a no but if it's an ‘I don't know,’ then you can wait sometime to get information, until it is a clear yes or no. Another decision making model can be the four step. 1. Realize when and why you need to make a decision. 2. Declare the decision: decide what the decision is, how you'll work it, and who should be involved. 3. Work the decision generate a complete set of alternatives, gather the information you need to understand the possibilities and probabilities, and ultimately make a choice that best fits your values. 4. Commit resources and act. The reason why these decision making process are similar are because they all help to make good decisions just a different way of working it out. They are different, because some are a little more difficult to do while others are much more simple. In my opinion I think that the one where you ask yourself the question would be the best one to use. The reason for this is because it's simple enough to remember you don't have to remember a ton of different steps just a question to ask yourself every time.

Rikki Anderson

My name is Rikki Anderson and i am 16 years of age. I dance at Long’s School of Dance, everyday of the week. My favorite color is green, and my favorite thing to do, is going outside and hanging out with my friends. One of the things I don’t like to do is blogging, because I don’t really see the point in doing it and you don’t really need to know how to do it for your future. I don’t really know what more there is to learn in this class seeing how we’ve had it since grade school, and it’s always the same thing about not abusing drugs and alcohol and staying abstinent. Some of my life goals include getting to the university of Phoenix or Hawaii. I want to get a career in dermatology and find a cure for eczema that is all organic.
